Things to know

• The Walk of Fame is the least rewarding thing on it. The costumed characters who pose with tourists demand payment afterwards, sometimes aggressively — keep walking, and spend the time inside the theatres instead.
• Thai Town starts around Normandie and runs east to Western along Hollywood Boulevard. It is a fifteen-minute Metro ride from the tourist blocks on the B Line and is where locals eat.
• The B Line (red) runs directly under Hollywood Boulevard with stops at Highland, Vine and Western. It is genuinely the best way to move around this neighbourhood — street parking is scarce and the lots are expensive.
• Several of the best Thai places are cash-only, close early (Sapp shuts around 8pm) or shut a weekday. Check before you set out.
• Hollywood nightlife concentrates on Cahuenga and Highland and gets rowdy after 11pm at weekends. Phone snatching is the thing that actually happens here.
